Andros fascinates with its history, architecture and impressive walking network, its immaculate neoclassical main town, piled on a narrow peninsula with lanes paved in marble. Andros’ main attraction is its natural beauty. The endless miles of ancient footpaths are winding through the island’s densely wooded hills and mountain villages, all lush with springs and waterfalls. Along the way you meet beautiful beaches for every taste, sandy, pebbly, cavy, rocky, secluded, unspoiled or organized. Their only common characteristic: the clear blue waters. They are so many that you need days to discover all of them. So we decided to take you on a tour around the most spectacular beaches of Andros:
Fellos is a secluded beach near Heliades Villas, ideal for fishing and fun and play for families with kids. Fellos is a long sandy beach in north-west Andros, only four kilometres from the port of Gavrio. Fellos beach is not exposed to north winds and that is why it is absolutely safe to let the kids swim and play without a worry. You just have to remember to bring your own umbrellas and water because there are no tourist facilities around. It is easily accessible and if after all the fun and games you get hungry, there is an amazing tavern “To steki tou Andrea” just a few meters away from the beach, ready to serve you traditional greek dishes.
#2 Chryssi Ammos (Golden Sand or Golden Beach)
Chryssi Ammos is one of the most popular of Andros beaches, because it is also sheltered from the winds, easily accessible and looks like a huge swimming pool with golden sand and crystal clear blue waters. Chryssi ammos is the young crowd’s choice that prefer to sunbathe and swim under the sounds of music. Located on the western part of the island, almost 7 km south of Gavrio, Chryssi Akti is one of the most popular organized beaches with water sports, seaside taverns, cafes and shops nearby.
